Alexa Frisbie has a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. Before founding Workshop Education in 2009, Alexa trained teachers, and created award winning curriculum for NASA and UC Berkeley, among others. Alexa taught first through fifth grades at private and public schools in San Francisco. She has won awards for leadership in education, and published articles on exemplary practices in education.
Alexa creates curriculum for the enrichment classes, and designs professional development for the team to provide the most meaningful learning experiences possible.
Director of Workshop Education
Susie Cresci has her teaching credential with a Cross-cultural, Language, and Academic Development emphasis. She taught elementary students at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Oak Knoll Elementary School and Serendipity. Susie is tri-lingual in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Susie started working in Human Resources at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay when it first opened. Susie became part of the team that hired and trained over four hundred employees in this new five-star caliber hotel. Susie also has experience working in a home health care agency where she managed, coordinated, and staffed client cases. Susie was the first person hired to teach at Workshop in Fall of 2009, and has served as site director at North, West, and Farallone View.
Susie is in charge of all day to day management, and recruiting talented teachers and site directors, among other responsibilities, in her position as Director of Workshop Education.
Director of Communications
Alexa was born and raised in the Bay Area, and currently lives with her husband and two children on the Peninsula. She has an undergraduate degree in Writing/Literature from UC San Diego, and a teaching credential/Master's of Teaching from the University of San Francisco. She was previously employed as a health and education reporter for the Mountain View Voice, and has been published in the Menlo Park Almanac and the Palo Alto Weekly. As a teacher, she has taught SAT instruction, 6th grade English and Social Studies, and 1st grade. She was a site director for Workshop Education at Woodside Elementary School. Writing and education are two major passions, and she is always looking for ways to combine them professionally. In her spare time, she likes to read, write short stories, and spend time outdoors with her family.
Emergency Preparedness Consultant
Joanne is a Native Californian and has lived in the Bay Area for most of her life. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Relations from CSU, Chico. She has been an Instructional Aide, a substitute teacher and a teacher in Adult Education. Most recently she was a Case Manager and Career Counselor for a non-profit. She takes pride in her people skills and organization skills. She brings those to her new position as the Emergency Preparedness Consultant. She loves baking, traveling and riding her bike with her husband along the Coastal Trail in Half Moon Bay.
