Alexa Frisbie has a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. Before founding Workshop Education in 2009, Alexa trained teachers, and created award winning curriculum for NASA and UC Berkeley, among others. Alexa taught first through fifth grades at private and public schools in San Francisco. She has won awards for leadership in education, and published articles on exemplary practices in education.
Alexa creates curriculum for the enrichment classes, and designs professional development for the team to provide the most meaningful learning experiences possible.
Director of Workshop
Susie Cresci has her teaching credential with a Cross-cultural, Language, and Academic Development emphasis. She taught elementary students at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Oak Knoll Elementary School and Serendipity. Susie is tri-lingual in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Susie started working in Human Resources at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay when it first opened. Susie became part of the team that hired and trained over four hundred employees in this new five-star caliber hotel. Susie also has experience working in a home health care agency where she managed, coordinated, and staffed client cases. Susie was the first person hired to teach at Workshop in Fall of 2009, and has served as site director at North, West, and Farallone View.
Susie is in charge of all day to day management, and recruiting talented teachers and site directors, among other responsibilities, in her position as Director of Workshop.
Director of Programs
Courtney Medrano graduated with a BA in Liberal Studies and received her teaching credential from California State University San Marcos in 2001, in addition to specialized course work in math development, curriculum writing, reading recovery and ESL strategies. She spent seven years at a California Distinguished International Baccalaureate school in San Diego where she designed and implemented rigorous curriculum to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people. She is Level 1 and Level 2 trained and certified in International Baccalaureate. After leaving San Diego and moving back to the Bay Area in 2010, she joined Workshop Education where she has spent the last five years fine tuning Study Skill and Innovation Workshops as a site director for both South and West schools.
As Director of Programs, Courtney is in charge of maintaining high quality enrichment classes at all our sites, by visiting sites and providing ongoing professional development to teachers.
Director of Operations
Stephanie has served as teacher at Northstar Academy and the site director at South Hillsborough, before moving into her role as Director of Operations. Stephanie Alger has her teaching certifications in early childhood education. With over 8 years of expertise in teaching, coaching, mentoring, and creating curriculum for a diverse age group ranging from preschool to 8th grade, Stephanie enjoys working with students of all ages. Stephanie enjoys teaching design thinking and helping the students prototype their new inventions.
As Director of Operations, Stephanie is responsible for ordering and managing our hands-on supplies for our Study Skills and Innovation Workshop enrichment classes, as well as coordinating food for our bi-weekly professional development meetings.
Technology Director - Off Site
Danielle is a can-do problem solver, and works to refine our technology to work the best for our teachers. Danielle is also an online instructor. Danielle has degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish from Adrian College and worked at a Montessori learning center for two years before returning to school at Eastern Michigan University to get her Secondary Teaching Certification in Biology and Chemistry. After she graduated she joined Westwood Cyber High School to teachBiology and Chemistry while also helping with math and building their Spanish curriculum. Danielle has been working with children of various ages for over ten years as a tutor, coach, and college preparation advisor, and has been a teacher and coach for five years. Danielle is a firm believer that we never stop learning, and that the best way we can learn is by working with others and teaching what we know. She plans to pursue a Master’s in Educational Psychology to further study what helps children love learning. Danielle recently moved from Michigan to join her new husband in California.
As Technology Director - Off Site, Danielle works to improve our technology and software to better serve the needs of teachers and parents.
Technology Director - On Site
Nancy is also our technology problem solver, visiting sites after classes to assist teachers to use technology most effectively, so they can better focus on teaching goals. Nancy understands the needs of teachers, as Nancy also serves as site director to our Northstar students. She has a natural creativity and loves doing creative projects with kids. She hopes to inspire kids to harness their creativity and imagination, not only to make art, but to become problem solvers.
As Technology Director - On Site, Nancy visits sites to help teachers learn to use technology to best effect for learning, and to allow them to focus on their teaching.
